Safety and liability

klemm.app shows how a light circuit can be rewired. It does not replace a qualified electrician or an on-site check.

Who may do this?

In Germany, work on fixed electrical installations belongs in the hands of a qualified electrician. For installations behind the house connection, § 13 NAV requires a registered installation company.

Use klemm.app to understand beforehand what needs doing and to find the right device. You can print the plan and hand it over.

The five safety rules

1. Disconnect: switch off the circuit breaker. 2. Secure against reconnection. 3. Verify that the circuit is dead with a two-pole voltage tester, not a screwdriver-type tester. 4. Earth and short-circuit (usually not needed in homes below 1 kV). 5. Cover adjacent live parts.

What the plans assume

The plans assume a textbook installation: core colours to DIN EN 60445 and the usual cables for the chosen circuit. You enter any differences in the calculator.

The rules in every plan: neutral only on blue, a blue wire used as live is marked, the switch always breaks live, the protective earth is never touched. Every plan is checked in all switch positions.

Liability

The plans are worked out with care but without guarantee. We accept no liability for damage resulting from carrying them out, as far as the law permits. Before any change, check that your installation matches the plan.
